Since launching our global 40 Free Floors for 40 Good Causes appeal, we’ve been totally overwhelmed by your response.

After receiving hundreds of inspiring nominations from the UK, USA and New Zealand/Australia, our judges were left with the extremely difficult job of selecting our winners for October.

Following much deliberation, our judges united in their decisions. After reading the winners’ stories, we’re sure you’ll agree they’re extremely worthy causes indeed.

Our UK winner Safe@Last is a children’s charity that supports children and young people who are at risk through running or being thrown out of their homes. As well as providing one-to-one support and an education and prevention programme, the charity also runs a children’s refuge which provides emergency accommodation for children when they have nowhere else safe to stay.

From the USA, YWCA is Spokane’s only state-recognised domestic violence program for victims and survivors. It’s dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

And finally, Mr & Mrs Holmes from Adelaide, South Australia were nominated by a close family member to receive a free Karndean floor. As a couple they have often gone without to put the care of their son, who has severe epilepsy and dyspraxia, before their own needs.

Congratulations again to our winners and be sure to keep an eye out for photos of the installations over the coming months.

Have you been inspired?

Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time to nominate a worthy cause or individual close to your heart. Entries for this month’s winners close on 30th November, after which a winner will be chosen from the UK, USA and Australia/New Zealand. Take two minutes to nominate here.
